Three big mobile phones have arrived at e2save…

posted September 29th, 2008 by Greg

Three of the year’s biggest (and most expensive) releases have arrived at e2save: the Samsung i8510, the Nokia N96 and the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1.

They say good things come to those who wait, well this is defiantly the case for mobile phones this year. We have waited and waited and now in October we have the best of the best to come out of the mobile phone revolution. In August we were proud to present the Samsung i8510 Innov8, followed by the Nokia N96 - which is NOW IN STOCK BUY NOW! Last but not least we added the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 to our coming soon page last week.

Samsung V’s Nokia…
The Samsung i8510 Innvo8 mobile phone is a multimedia monster with an 8.0-megapixel camera and is without doubt one of the most impressive looking phones we have ever seen - it offers strong competition to Nokia’s N-Series. So Nokia being Nokia are ready to fight back with the long awaited Nokia N96.

Crammed with 16GB of internal memory, allowing for up to 8000 MP3 songs and up to 12000 pictures. TV Broadcast and Wi-Fi allowing for super-fast internet connection, allowing access anywhere to social networking sites, such as the very popular facebook. Although the N96 is obviously very well endowed, Samsung have triumphed with the Samsung i8510.

Sony Ericsson are starting to surprise…
Sony Ericsson as always are in on the fight as well. An increasing number of analysts have stuck their necks out by saying Sony Ericsson are too dependant on the Walkman and Cyber-shot brand. Sony have taken this criticism and turned it into something positive. This something positive is the Xperia X1! The Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 is a touchscreen smartphone and the first model of the new brand Xperia. The Xperia is a feature packed mobile phone; the 3 inch wide VGA display and QWERTY keyboard means you can use all the important programs such as, Power Point, Excel and Word allowing access to contacts and emails, which is great when combined with the built-in ultra-fast 3G HSDPA and Wi-Fi allowing internet and email contact on the go.

BBC iPlayer will be available on Nokia phones including the N96

posted September 12th, 2008 by Greg

WOW mobile phone facilities just keep on getting better - soon mobiles will rule the world, if there not already doing so! No one will need a radio or MP3 Player to play music, a television to watch daily programs, they won’t need a DVD player to watch and record their favourite films and they won’t need a laptop to surf the internet, download music or whatever else you may want to do! Mobile phones today already come with FM Radio’s, MP3 players, TV-out and even internet facilities, but now they are developing even further. The BBC iPlayer will soon be available on mobile phones for the first time due to a partnership with Nokia.

What is the BBC iPlayer all about…..
The iPlayer is basically an audio and video catch-up service which allows you to stream or download radio and TV programs from the last seven days to your mobile phone. This is done through WiFi or 3G connectivity that comes FREE, yes FREE, with your mobile phones, be it Nokia, Samsung or Sony Ericsson.

This means you’re going to be able to get the brand new Nokia N96 in October from e2save, with the new BBC iPlayer feature, allowing you to watch all programs you have missed over the passed seven days - you’ll be able to do this on the impressive 2.8″ display screen.

The director of mobile for the BBC Matthew Postgate said, it is very important to offer you guys and girls access to this service wherever you are, which is great, you can catch up on TV programs you have missed via your mobile phone. He explained ‘It’s as close to the PC version as it can get and it will become better in some ways’. These ‘better in some ways’  include the addition of ‘buddy lists’ this gives the BBC and Nokia an opportunity to move rich media on mobiles forward. They also want to deliver the iPlayer’s promise to be a multi-platform proposition.

This is a very exciting time for Nokia as it will combine two massive brands. The BBC is a brand known throughout the world (the same can be said for Nokia) and for Nokia to of bagged this deal, the future really is looking bright. It leaves us with the thought what will mobile phone manufacturers think of next to help make our lives easier…

Here on the e2save blog we like to keep you up to date with the latest and most useful information…

What is Lonely Planet? And how it began…
It all started with a beat-up old car, a few dollars in the pocket, a sense of adventure and a couple called Tony and Maureen Wheeler. This is how a trip of a lifetime begin and the start of something very special.

tony-maureen.jpg

For their honeymoon they, they decided to attempt what few people thought possible – crossing Europe and Asia overland, all the way to Australia. The adventure took several months, all the money they could earn, beg or borrow, but in the end they made it. By the time they finished their trip they were flat broke, but couldn’t have been happier!
They new that what they had experienced was to good to keep to themselves, so urged my friends they stayed up nights writing, typing, and stapling together their very first travel guide, ‘Across Asia on the cheap’.

Only a few weeks passed and they had sold 1500 copies and Lonely Planet was born. Since this they have created books from Africa, to India to Australia and many more.

Lonely Planet today…
Lonely Planet is now a globally loved brand, in October 2007 BBC Worldwide acquired a 75% share in Lonely Planet, pledging to uphold Lonely Planet’s commitment to independent travel, trustworthy advice and editorial independence. BBC Worldwide is the main commercial arm, and a wholly owned subsidiary of, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).

Today, Lonely Planet has offices in Melbourne, London and Oakland, with over 500 staff members and 300 authors. And the company is still driven by the philosophy in Across Asia on the Cheap: ‘All you’ve got to do is decide to go and the hardest part is over. So go!’

Lonely Planet and Nokia…
Now you know about Lonely Planet here is a bit more about what they are going to do now they have teamed up with Nokia. The guides will offer users information about local restaurants, shops and accommodation, as well as information on popular tourist attractions and nightlife. You can find your destination and plan your route street by street, city to city. You can get a different perspective with satellite, hybrid, and street maps. And, you can enhance your visit with multimedia city guides.

Maximilian Schierstadt, Nokia context based services head of media partnerships, says the deal will allow the handset brand to “continue to innovate” through its Nokia Maps software.

Nokia marketing director Will Harris says the software has been a key focus for the brand over the last few months.

As companies come together to form new ventures, customers will start to receive the very best service. Nokia and Lonely Planet are the perfect example of how two well established and popular businesses can combine to make a super-service for you.
