iPhone 5

The latest Apple iPhone 5 is just around the corner and we just can’t wait to get our hands on it! As the true next generation handset from Apple, we can expect to see significant changes to the internal hardware, look and feel of the new iPhone. All this new technology comes at a price, so we ask how much will the Apple iPhone 5 cost? Here are the latest prediction and rumours set to affect the Apple iPhone 5 price.

4 inch display

To compensate for the growing demand of larger displays, the Apple iPhone 5 screen size may just step away from the traditional 3.5 inch size. Manufacturers of Android handsets continue to churn out flagship handsets way above the 4 inch barrier. Comparing the Samsung Galaxy S3 vs Apple iPhone 5, Samsung are a dead cert to have the larger screen at a mammoth 4.8 inches. Though Apple are extremely unlikely to increase their display by as much as 1.5 inches, it’s widely rumoured Apple will at least choose a display around 4.0 inches for the iPhone 5 screen size. A bigger screen will certainly add to the manufacturing costs of the Apple iPhone 5 price.

Should Apple increase the screen size of their 2012 release, we can assume there’ll be fashionable new design concepts to the Apple iPhone 5. Each iPhone design typically lasts for two generations before a radical make over is delivered. Let’s hope for an exciting new design!

Quad core power

It is almost an expectation that the Apple iPhone 5 will house a quad core chip. We’ve seen the step up from dual core to quad core in the Samsung Galaxy S3, HTC One X and LG Optimus 4X HD. Even budget tablet announcements such as the Google Nexus 7 are punching ahead of Apple with quad core power.

The New iPad release in March unveiled an A5X chip; a processor with dual core multitasking but quad core graphical capabilities. Rumours suggest an A6 quad core chip is in development and the Apple iPhone 5 will be the perfect opportunity to flex its muscle to the world. Would a quad core processor affect Apple iPhone 5 price? The improvement in chipset from Apple iPad 2 to New iPad didn’t up the recommended retail price of the latest tablet. Rather, customers were delighted to see a huge drop in iPad 2 price to offer a more affordable tablet to the masses.

NFC capabilities

Another popular rumour is that the Apple iPhone 5 will contain an NFC chip. Near Field Communication is a great piece of hardware currently available in several Android handsets which lets the user transact contactless payments by just tapping their smartphone against a sensor. With iOS 6 features announced such as Passbook, it’s clear the Apple are looking at ways to play a bigger role in the day to day transactions of the consumer. If NFC is implemented into the iPhone 5 we can expect Apple will announce a service similar to Google Wallet. The NFC chip could be one feature that raises the price of the iPhone 5.

Apple iPhone 5 Price

So how much will the Apple iPhone 5 cost? Despite the push in technology, we believe the Apple iPhone 5 will be around the £500 price point. As the Samsung Galaxy S3 is available between £450 to £500 we can’t see Apple justifying a price point to the masses above this value.
