Sony really has been flooding us with some top quality smartphones over the past 12 months, with the Xperia Z1, Z1 Compact and Z2 all offering plentiful features and unparalleled design.

But one smartphone you might not have heard of just yet is the Xperia M2, a less publicised and more wallet friendly handset from the Japanese manufacturer.

But don’t let it’s rock bottom pricing put you off, the M2 packs some amazing features for its price which will no doubt be turning heads this year.

So before you go out and pay top-dollar for a flagship handset, take a look at the M2, maybe it will change your mind!

Why go and spend £40/month on a good camera, when you can have a great camera for less?

The Sony Xperia M2 sports an 8 megapixel rear facing camera, which might not look the most powerful on paper, but packs a serious punch under the hood.

It features an Exmor RS sensor which gives you an unbelievable image quality and even packs High Dynamic Range (HDR).

Add this to some brilliant built-in camera apps that are common place on the likes of the Xperia Z2, and you have the foundations for a phenomenal smartphone camera.

The M2 even has its own Auto Scene Recognition mode, which can recognise up to 36 different scenes, and adjusts the camera automatically to suit each shot’s conditions.

Battery Stamina

With all that power in the camera, you’d think that you would need to charge the M2 almost constantly, but it simply isn’t the case with this smartphone.

Whilst the 2,300mAh battery doesn’t look the largest, the smart Sony software adds an incredible STAMINA mode to the handset, which gives you an unmatched battery life.

STAMINA mode works by knowing when you aren’t using the phone, and then turning off any non-essential functions.

It allows some notifications to come through, which can be set-up to your liking, and can have the battery last twice as long, depending on your usage rates of course.

Beautiful Design

If looks are a key element for you when picking out a smartphone, the Xperia M2 definitely won’t be dropping down your list anytime soon.

Similarly to the likes of the Z2 and Z1, the M2 boasts the same glass built design with a solid aluminium frame.

The 4.8” Display also looks and works brilliantly on the M2, continuing the strong form shown in the Sony smartphone range.

Sony Media Apps

Being able to fit up to 40GB of data, if you use a MicroSD card, means that the M2 is also ideal for managing all your media, and Sony has helped us out by adding a plentiful supply of apps as well.

Whether it’s music, video or photos, Sony has an app for it, giving you a great way of viewing and sharing your media without an issue.

The Walkman app offers you access to thousands of songs as well as handling all of your music without a hitch, whilst Sony’s own video and album apps keep tabs on your films and photos.

So, if you’re a film, music or photography buff, the Xperia M2 will be able to keep up with you.

Fully Connected

With a phone packed full of all this quality, why wouldn’t you want to show it off?

The Xperia M2 features a bucket-load of connectivity features ranging from your standard Bluetooth connection, up to the latest NFC technology.

One Touch Sharing, Mirroring, Listening and Back-up are all built into the M2, allowing you to display videos on compatible TVs as well as stream music and even store pictures and videos with a simple wireless transfer.

Plenty of other connectivity features, including Miracast, DLNA and MHL, all of which offer ways of sharing data with other devices, are also installed into the M2.
