Manufacturers really are turning on the bright ideas when it comes to the latest releases. The phones for 2012 so far have been packed with innovation and advanced specs. The two flagship handsets that currently float our office boat are the Samsung Galaxy S3 and HTC One X with their supersized screens, rocking quad core processors and super intelligent software. Both being such premium handsets, choosing the right smartphone for you can be a tough decision (and an expensive one if you make the wrong call!). In this series we compare the top two Android devices to hit the UK this year to help you decide between the HTC One X vs Samsung Galaxy S3.
Don’t forget you can pre-order Samsung Galaxy S3 deals from e2save.com ahead of its May 30th release date. The HTC One X is already commercially available.
HTC vs Samsung – Design
Both handsets look beautiful. Samsung and HTC have both demonstrated that square and rigid handsets are out of fashion and the curves are in this 2012! Samsung state their S3 is “inspired by nature” by using gentle curves to deliver a comfortable hold on a handset that fits in your hand naturally. The HTC One X in White also looks truly stunning and minimalist with its curved edges. Though lighter by 3 grams, the Samsung Galaxy S3 delivers a 4.8 inch display; 0.1 inch larger than the HTC One X. The differences are negligible as both smartphones will dazzle your multimedia in a stunning HD 720 x 1280 pixel formation.

Power and Performance
With quad core processors lining the inside of the HTC One X and Samsung Galaxy S3, these handsets were made to deliver complex multitasking, extensive gaming and work at an intensity that would fry the living daylights out of yesteryears processing chips! Though both have 1GB RAM at the helm, the HTC One X operates slightly faster at 1.5GHz against the Galaxy S3 and its 1.4GHz. Is the difference noticeable to the average user? Being quad core devices, both handsets are unlikely to operate at maximum capacity against the current applications available on Google Play. Either way, the HTC vs Samsung battle operates at high speed and has no worries to take on your most demanding tasks.
Both being on Android, the Samsung Galaxy S3 and HTC One X come with Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS fresh out of the box so you can enjoy a refined and evolved user interface. Both sides of the HTC vs Samsung battle offer improved text-input and spell-checking, voice recognition searches and Face Unlock. See the full range of Android Ice Cream Sandwich features. You also have access to Google Play; the app store for Android Devices which recently surpassed 15 billion downloads. Whether you choose Samsung or HTC as your smartphone of choice, you’re device will be able to cope with the high end applications of Google Play. Both handsets tailor the Android ICS interface to suit their handset with Samsung offering TouchWiz and HTC offering Sense. On a personal level I have tended to prefer the previous versions of Sense over TouchWiz due to its clean aesthetics and user experience. Some newer features within the S3 however may just change that. We’ll be covering these in detail in the build up to launch day on the 30th May.

The battle between Samsung Galaxy S3 and HTC One X, isn’t necessarily which handset is better. Both smartphones offer advanced tech that beats the likes of 2011’s offerings; Yes they do beat the Apple iPhone 4S! It’ll be interesting to see what Apple have rolled up their sleeves to combat the Android invasion of quad core smartphones.
