What is the Huawei Ascend P7?

Huawei has never really been considered a high-end smartphone developer, with many users plumping them on the lower end of the scale thanks to its low priced value releases. But could this be changing this year?

If the Ascend P7 is anything to go by, we could well be seeing Huawei climb from the low-end smartphone scale up to the higher end market. But just how good is the Ascend P7? We’re here to show you why you should be excited for this release.

Ascend P7 Specs

The Ascend P7 is the most powerful phone coming off the Huawei conveyor belt by quite a chalk, putting it on a par with other flagship smartphones like the Galaxy S5, HTC One M8 and iPhone 5s.

Packing a 5-inch full HD display, the Ascend P7 is perfect for the film fanatics and gamers out there. In fact, the phone actually offers a sharper screen than the likes of the One M8, 5s and S5 giving the screen a beautifully vivid level of display.

Behind the screen we find even more enviable specs, with 2GB RAM, 16GB internal memory (which can be expanded) and a quad-core 1.8GHz processor all making the cut. When combined, these specs make for a fast, responsive experience on the P7, something that can’t be said of some other mid-range smartphones.

The Huawei runs on the latest version of Android (4.4.2 if you weren’t entirely sure!), and is plastered over with the Emotion 2.3 user interface. Whilst Android is often a standard design, the Emotion UI adds a slightly more fun skin to the system, making for something a bit different compared to your typical Android handsets.

Huawei Camera

The P7′s specs are certainly impressive, but the camera on the device takes this smartphone to a whole other level. Packing a 13 megapixel main snapper on the back side of the handset, the P7 is capable of taking some stunning pictures.

But it’s the front sided lens that’s truly ground-breaking. Somehow squeezing 8 megapixels into the front lens, Huawei has made the P7 the best smartphone for selfies by a long shot, completely outgunning every other phone on the market right now. So if you’re planning on winning awards for your Oscars-style self portraits, then the P7 is the way to go.

Huawei Ascend P7 Design

The Ascend P7 definitely has the best looking spec list we’ve seen from Huawei and we’re happy to say that it’s equally good looking from the outside as well.

Boasting a beautifully slender and premium feel, the P7  comes in black, white or pink designs to cater for all different tastes. Both the front and back sides of the handset are coated in Gorilla Glass 3, giving it a look not too dissimilar from the Sony Xperia models hitting the shelves this year.

Whilst the P7 isn’t quite as slim as its predecessor, the Ascend P6, which was actually crowned one 0f the world’s thinnest smartphones last year, it would still fall down a hold if it walked sidewards, measuring a minuscule 6.5mm thick.

Verdict

Not only does its power and features under the hood make it a top dollar smartphone; it’s the phenomenal set of front and rear cameras that really make the P7 stand out from the crowd.

If you don’t fancy spending too much cash but still want a powerful handset, then the Huawei Ascend P7 could be a match made in heaven for you.
