Unveiled in autumn 2020, the Oppo Reno4 series features an advanced trio of handsets, each of which varies slightly in its specifications – yet 5G connectivity can be found on every device.
With multi-lens rear camera setups, high resolution displays and long-lasting batteries, the Oppo Reno4 range has plenty to offer smartphone users. There’s a lot to explore, so we’ll take a closer look at each of the devices in this series below.
Oppo Reno4 Z 5G
At a glance: 6.57-inch LCD display, quad-lens 48MP+8MP+2MP+2MP rear camera, dual 16MP+2MP front camera, 4,000mAh battery, 184g.
Starting with the most budget-friendly of the three, the Oppo Reno4 Z 5G has a 6.57-inch LCD display, with a Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate for impeccably smooth transitions which are sure to elevate streaming, gaming and even flicking through socials. Unlocking this screen is easy, as the Reno4 Z 5G has a conveniently-placed fingerprint scanner mounted on the side of the handset.
On the rear of this device, there's what Oppo is calling a 48MP Ultra Wide Quadcam – a camera system made up of four separate lenses, which use pixel binning to capture maximum light for crystal clear shots. The 8MP wide-angle lens has a 119-degree field of view, ideal for capturing landscapes, while the two 2MP lenses make portraiture and monochrome photography better than ever. The dual-lens front camera is an exciting addition too; this 16MP+2MP pair comes with Front Night Mode, so even your selfies will get an upgrade, capturing your features accurately in low light.
Every smartphone in this series is optimised for 5G, so you can make the most of the low-latency, lag-free speeds of the UK’s fifth generation mobile network on the Reno4 Z 5G. Also onboard this handset is a 4,000mAh battery, so you'll be well equipped to stay connected from your morning scroll of the news cycle till your bedtime audiobook. Plus, with 18W Fast Charging, you won’t have to stay plugged in for long.
Oppo Reno4 5G
At a glance: 6.4-inch AMOLED display, triple-lens 48MP+8MP+2MP rear camera, dual-lens 32MP+2MP front camera, 4,020mAh battery, 159.3 x 74 x 7.8 mm, 183g.
Next is the Oppo Reno4 5G, which has a step up in specs from the Reno4 Z. This device is the smallest of the three, with an AMOLED display measuring 6.4 inches, and coated in Corning Gorilla Glass 6 for added protection against cracks, chips and drop damage. The fingerprint scanner on this handset is fully integrated into the display, so unlocking your Reno4 5G is a safe, seamless process.
Embedded into the display is a dual-lens front camera, made up of one 32MP main lens and a 2MP selfie bokeh lens, so you can truly master those self-portraits. Over on the rear however, you’ll find a triple-lens camera system, comprised of one main 48MP lens, an 8MP wide-angle and a further 2MP mono lens. With this combination of hardware, you’ll be able to make the most of features like AI Portrait, Night Mode and Live HDR, as well as videography highlights such as recording in 4K, Ultra Steady Video 3.0 and more.
Like all the devices in this series, the Reno4 5G runs on Android 10 fresh out of the box, and features 5G connectivity, which is ideal for keen smartphone gamers.
Oppo Reno4 Pro 5G
At a glance: 6.55-inch Super AMOLED display, triple-lens 48MP+12MP+13MP rear camera, dual-lens 32MP+2MP front camera, 4,000mAh battery, 160.2 x 73.2 x 7.7 mm, 172g.
The premium handset in the Reno4 range, the Oppo Reno4 Pro 5G is a flagship packed with top-end specs. Firstly, there’s a 6.55-inch Super AMOLED display, which stretches smoothly across a curved glass body, and boasts a 90Hz refresh rate for super seamless transitions, even on graphics-intensive games.
Just like the Reno4 5G, the fingerprint scanner on the Reno4 Pro 5G is built into the screen, so unlocking your phone is a quick and intuitive process. Despite that, this is the most narrow and lightweight device of the three, weighing in at only 172g.
This handset has the most advanced rear camera system in the series too, with a 48MP wide lens, which uses a Sony IMX568 sensor to provide optical image stabilisation, as well as a 13MP telephoto lens and a 12MP ultra-wide lens. A triple-lens setup like this allows you to capture beautiful panoramic views and cityscapes with ease, while also offering fantastic zoom capabilities so you can shoot minute details up close. There’s a whole host of exciting photography and videography software to explore as well, including features like Cinematic Mode, Live HDR and Hyperlapse – which enables you to film action shots like a professional.
As with the others in this range, Oppo has made its flagship 5G-ready, so the Reno4 Pro 5G promises to make buffering a thing of the past with next-level connectivity and super-fast downloads. But you won’t need to worry about 5G depleting your battery; the 4,000mAh battery on board can easily keep up with you, while 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 charging will boost your battery to 60% in just 15 minutes.
