Apple increase order volume for iPhones to 56 million

Apple plan to continue their smartphone domination in the second half of this year and have revised their total order volume for their iPhone range (iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPhone 5).  Their optimistic, yet confident order has risen from 12% to 13%, seeing the units increase from 50 to 56 million.  They plan for the iPhone 5 to make up half of that figure, with orders ranging from 25.5 to 26 million units.

If Apple manage to shift the majority of their 26 million iPhone 5’s, then there is no doubt it will be the most successful and most sold handset of 2011.  If past figures are anything to go by, such as sales figures from the iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS, then shifting such a huge number of the latest iPhone should be no trouble to Apple.  With strong talk and rumour of both a September or an October release date for the iPhone 5, there is not long left to wait. It will be interesting also, to see how the pricing of the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 is affected, as if they receive the predicted price drop, then sales of both should also soar.
