HTC Desire 820 camera review
We might be waiting with baited breath for the upcoming HTC One M9, but in the meantime HTC has given us a little treat in the way of the Desire 820, which boasts an incredible camera fit for any photography loving user.
Whether it’s the built in technology or the array of cool camera features, the HTC Desire 820 camera has got it all.
Desire 820 Camera Specs
What’s really exciting about the HTC Desire 820 is that, for a mid-range price tag, it boasts one of the hottest cameras around with mighty snappers on both the front and back of the phone.
Starting with the main camera, the HTC Desire smartphone sports a 13 megapixel lens which is more than enough to match it to many much pricier handsets out there, including the Samsung Galaxy S4 and iPhone 6.
And on the other side of the handset there’s plenty to talk about too: with a massive 8 megapixel camera donning the front of the Desire 820- which is actually better than most rear snappers!- the camera phone is good enough to make every selfie addict drool.
Did you know? HTC has also launched a cheaper selfie phone alongside the 820. See how the Desire 820 compares to the Desire 620 here.
HTC Camera Features
And it doesn’t stop at the HTC Desire 820’s camera specs either. On top of all the technical bits, the mid-tier smartphone boasts a shed load of built-in camera features too, making the Desire 820 more of a steal than ever!

Split Capture Mode
Although Samsung might have kicked off the trend, HTC has jumped on the bandwagon two feet first with its split capture mode. It might sound like a crazy feature, but with split capture, you can take a photo of an object or scene and then place your own selfie right in the middle of it- perfect if you’re ever out exploring alone!
Split Camera Video

HTC hasn’t limited the split camera feature to just photos, either. Simply select the split camera video mode and you can make 15 second recordings using both the front and back cameras at the same time!
Photo Booth
Enough of the Desire 820’s rear camera features, we’re here to talk about some of the phone’s cool selfie features! The Photo Booth mode, as the name suggests, is HTC’s own take on the traditional fairground-style photo booth, and lets you take a series of fun or silly selfies. Delve into that dressing up box or put on your silliest grin and get stuck in with the photo booth action!
Live Makeup Mode

Another helpful selfie mode designed for the HTC Desire 820 front camera is Live Makeup mode. You might have guessed that this feature is built for those who need to look good, and what better way to do that than touching up your facial features with a bit of blush, or making your cheeks that little bit slimmer?
Filters

Last but not least when it comes to our HTC Desire review is filters. While we all love the Toast and Lo-Fi filters from Instragram, the filters built into the Desire 820 cut out the middleman, letting you choose a colour or effect before you even take the photo.
And for those times that you ever miss Instagram, because the Desire 820 is powered by Android you can simply download the famous photo editing app in a matter of seconds!
HTC Desire 820 Camera Review
So, what’s the verdict? The HTC Desire 820 boasts not only an amazing set of 13 megapixel and 8 megapixel cameras, but the phone also sports every app and feature that you could ever want to jazz up your photos.
And what’s more, the HTC Desire 820 price tag means you get all of this for just a slice of what you’d expect for a camera this good.
