5 Wow Features of the HTC One M8

Just hours before the HTC One M8 launch, leaks and rumours were still streaming in. But now, after a long wait, the HTC One M8 is finally official, and boy does it look incredible!

So if you were in love with the original HTC One just as much as we were, you might want to check out these 5 wow features of the new HTC One M8.

Design: “Beauty through simplicity”

When it comes to design, the brand new HTC One shares many of the same features as its predecessor. Well, you know how the saying goes: if it ain’t broke, why fix it?

Ninety percent of the HTC One M8 is made of high quality metal, giving it an even more premium feel than the original HTC One. And that’s not all; the M8 also sports a brushed hairline finish which is notoriously difficult to achieve on a curved surface.

The device is not only available in the light silver of the HTC One, but also in gun metal grey, gold and red, making it stand out from the crowded Android market.

Another reason why the One M8 smartphone is beautiful is due to its smooth, soft curves, slim-line frame and incredibly sharp 5-inch display which boasts a 440 pixel per inch perfection.

HTC One Dual camera

A smartphone’s camera is usually the single most important feature on a new smartphone and on the HTC One M8, this is no exception.

HTC completely revolutionised the smartphone camera scene with the HTC One last year, and now it looks like the Taiwanese company is set to do it all over again with the M8.

The HTC One M8 not only sports a new range of camera features such as dual capture, selfie and customisable manual mode on top of HTC Zoe, but it also offers not one but two rear-facing lenses, both to perform different jobs.

HTC One M8 camera features

First of all there’s the infamous Ultrapixel rear-facing lens which enables users to take spectacular photos every time. Then there’s the second lens designed specifically for detail depth information.

This second lens basically enables your HTC One M8 to calculate the proximity of an object from the camera lens, allowing you to generate professional-looking shots which focus and blur exactly where you want them to. Unlike other smartphones such as the Sony Xperia Z2 and Samsung Galaxy S5 which sport similar features, the HTC One M8 doesn’t require you to enact a specific mode to create this effect; simply touch the area on the screen which you want to focus and you are ready to go with professional-looking photos in seconds.

When it comes to video, the All New HTC One doesn’t disappoint either. When shooting a video, you can pause, reframe and continue filming, making your smartphone turn into a top of the range video camera.

On top of this, the M8 can shoot slow-motion video, allowing users to select individual frames to slow down or speed up, creating a dramatic effect similarly to the Xperia Z2.

What’s more, with a 5 megapixel wide angled front facing camera, the HTC One M8 allows for incredible selfies, safeguarding the handset for this year’s selfie craze!

Sense 6: “Sixth sense”

HTC is the king of innovation, and this is demonstrated no more than in the One M8. The device will run HTC’s latest user interface, Sense 6, or “sixth sense” as coined by the company.

In order to make the smartphone more intuitive to your wants and needs, HTC has given BlinkFeed a total redesign, generating more open space to make it easier to read at a glance.

Sense 6’s BlinkFeed also marks various activities with different colours, customisable to each individual user. That means that, not only is the M8’s user interface more unique than ever before, but it is also much easier to find the content you are looking for.

The All New HTC One also takes gesture control to another level, allowing users to access a number of features at just a touch of a button. To take a photo, just press down on the volume rocker to activate the camera; to unlock the phone, simply double tap on the device’s screen; if you want to answer a call in one fell swoop, just hold the phone to your ear- it really is that easy!

Sense TV and BoomSound

Today’s smartphones have more impact on our everyday lives than ever before. That’s why HTC has enhanced the One M8’s range of audio and TV features.

The new flagship smartphone sports the same infrared technology doubling up the device as a television remote. Not only that, HTC‘s Sense TV has a totally new visual layout in order to make it clearer what’s on, with real time social feeds offering commentary to the most popular TV programs and sports matches.

When it comes to audio, HTC has again always been at the forefront of technology. The HTC One M8 features the same BoomSound dual-frontal speakers as we saw on its predecessor. However, the M8 is in fact 25% louder than the HTC One, offering sharper audio with more depth. Also, with HTC One Connect, users can connect to their wireless home stereos with just a three-finger swipe!

Extended Battery life

Rather than simply enlarging the One M8’s battery, HTC has gone down the software road, improving the longevity of the smartphone’s battery life to keep up with the demands of our hectic lives.

The device comes with a built-in power saving mode- which will be upgraded to an ‘Extreme Power Saving Mode’ later this spring. Add this to HTC’s Matrix Dot case, which allows you to check the time and view incoming calls without even exposing the phone’s screen, and you have a smartphone which can keep on going for as long as you can.
