Released in September 2018, the latest Apple update is improving the user experience of iPhone users everywhere. The idea behind the upgrade was to make the iPhone experience more streamlined, quicker, and in the words of Apple, “more delightful”.
Here, we’re taking a look at the top five features of iOS12, and how you can make the most of them.
1 - Group FaceTime Calls
Group calls just got taken to a whole new level. With iOS 12, you can host a FaceTime conversation with as many as 32 participants.
The person who’s speaking will automatically appear larger than the rest, making this function an excellent option for those who often want to catch up with large groups of friends at the same time, host conference calls, meetings and other essential conversations.
2 - Screen Time Tracking
Another great aspect of the update, you can now get a clearer idea of how much time you actually spend on your phone - and how much time your children spend on theirs too.
iOS 12 offers Screen Time, a feature that monitors how long you spend on your phone, broken down by app – be that Facebook or Messages – as well as the type of app. So you could, for example, work out how much time you spend on social media overall on any given day or across the week.
3 - Improved Memojis
With the new update, you can make yourself as many Memojis as you like. Used in FaceTime and Messages, you can create one for every mood, every look or just whenever you fancy a change. The update also brings with it new Animojis, with more expressions to make use of too – use the T.Rex, ghost, koala or tiger in Messages and FaceTime.
And for when only a standard emoji will do, you can choose from the extra 70 this update has introduced.
4 - Better Notifications
Isn’t it annoying when you get a new notification every time someone posts on the group chat? Now, you can sort out notifications via the lock screen, and with Instant Tuning, you can change how your apps notify you.
Notifications from the same source will be grouped, or you can opt to have them “deliver quietly” so as to not fully interrupt you, or you can turn them off altogether.
What’s more, you can now also set your iPhone to Do Not Disturb for a set period of time before this function will turn itself off – no longer will you miss messages and calls because you forgot to turn Do Not Disturb off.
5 - ARKit 2
Using this feature, developers can not only create amazing AR experiences, but they can share them with other iOS 12 users via Messages and Mail - and experience them all together. Using ARKit 2, it’s now also easier to add real world objects into your immersive experience using your camera through the incorporation of Measure.
You can download iOS 12 on any iPhone from iPhone 5s onwards, and it's ready to use out-of-the-box on iPhone XR, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XS. If you love the sound of iOS 12, make sure you browse the latest iPhone deals at e2Save today.
