One of four devices released in the iPhone 13 series, iPhone 13 Pro is a flagship handset, packed with a combination of industry-leading specs and innovative new features. From the high-spec Super Retina display to the impeccable triple-lens camera system, there’s a lot to love about iPhone 13 Pro; we unpack the top five features in more detail below.

1. Ergonomic Design

The first thing you’ll notice about iPhone 13 Pro is its striking redesign. The sleek stainless-steel frame sports flat, softly rounded edges for ergonomic comfort, while the back of the handset is coated in resilient Gorilla Glass, which has a pleasing matt texture to improve grip.

Meanwhile, the front of the device is fitted with Apple’s signature Ceramic Shield – the toughest smartphone glass on the market to date – so it’s well protected from drops and scratches. This device has also been awarded an IP68 dust and water resistance rating, allowing you to scroll without hesitation come rain or shine. While Apple has opted to omit a fingerprint scanner from the 13 Pro, Face ID has been incorporated instead. This is a super secure and convenient method of biometric identification, which allows you to unlock your handset with a single glance.

2. 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR Display

Next up, the 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display is a real highlight on this device, and with an 86% screen-to-body ratio, the iPhone 13 Pro guarantees an immersive viewing experience. This display is also equipped with ProMotion, which is capable of adaptive refresh rates, so depending on what’s being displayed, the handset will switch from 90Hz to 120Hz or vice versa. For example, if you’re playing a graphics-intensive game, the handset may ramp up the refresh rate to ensure you’re getting the best possible visuals during gameplay.

When it comes to brightness, True Tone technology ensures you’ll never be caught out by a glaring screen late at night. This feature enables the display to intelligently adapt to the level of light in your surroundings, adjusting the brightness balance accordingly.

3. Triple-lens Rear Camera System

As you’d expect, Apple has put photography tech front and centre on the iPhone 13 Pro, with a stunning triple-lens camera system comprised of three 12MP lenses: one telephoto, one wide and one ultra-wide. This trio makes for reliably stunning shots, be it a panoramic landscape view, or a crystal-clear portrait. The ultra-wide lens in particular brings a whole host of possibilities with it, thanks to its ability to focus from just 2cm away, so you can experiment with macro images and even capture superbly detailed video footage.

There are plenty of other new photography features to explore too, like Night mode portraits, powered by the sophisticated LiDAR scanner, as well as 3x optical zoom for more conventional closeups. But perhaps the most exciting software addition the 13 Pro has to offer is Cinematic Mode. This groundbreaking feature uses the TrueDepth camera to film with a shallow depth of field, and automatically shifts the focus from one subject to another, so you can create seamless, professional-grade footage on your phone.

4. A15 Bionic Chip

The iPhone 13 series also sees the debut of Apple’s latest chipset - the A15 Bionic. According to the manufacturer, this pioneering processor is said to deliver up to 50% faster graphics than any other smartphone chip in the industry, as a result of the brand-new 5-core GPU. Similarly, the updated neural engine can carry out up to 15.8 trillion operations per second, so it can handle your everyday smartphone tasks with ease.

It’s this powerful chip which enables the iPhone 13 Pro’s most advanced features, like Cinematic Mode and ProMotion, but the A15 Bionic also improves the overall speed and efficiency of this device, as well as enhancing battery life without compromising on performance.

5. Li-Ion 3095mAh Battery

With so many innovative features to make the most of, it’s fitting that the iPhone 13 Pro runs on a Li-Ion 3095 mAh battery, designed for maximum longevity. This battery can achieve up to 28 hours of video playback (or 25 hours of streamed content) and is said to outlast previous generations by approximately 1.5 hours.

Having to remember to plug in overnight is a thing of the past with the iPhone 13 Pro, as fast charging using the cable included in the box will get you back up to 50% in 30 minutes. Wireless charging is easy too – just place your phone on one of Apple’s own MagSafe Chargers – or alternatively use any Qi-certified charging pad (both are sold separately).
