Why bigger is always better when it comes to smartphones
If anything has become clear over the past year, it’s that smartphones have got big.
No longer are manufacturers competing over making the world’s smallest phone with a screen almost too tiny to read from; instead, all rules about size seem to have been broken, with mobiles getting bigger and bigger.
So what’s the fuss about big phones? Are large screen smartphones the future? Here are just a few reasons why bigger is always better when it comes to phones.
Bigger phones can do more
When it comes to smartphone technology, there’s hardly anything that your phone cannot do. But with a phone’s big screen, there are a whole host of things that are simply better than on a small screened-device.
Watching a film, for example, or playing on the Star Wars edition of Angry Birds. Having a large phone also means it’s easier to read e-books or browse the web. Swiping through your photos is always safer on a big smartphone because it eliminates the shock of seeing your Facebook pics on the big screen of a computer, too.
They’re cheaper than iPhones
It seems that it’s just Apple that hasn’t jumped on the phablet bandwagon just yet, with its iPhone range sticking at the 4-inch mark. As a result, pretty much all large-screen phones are run by Google’s Android operating system.
In order to stay in the competition, Androids, as a rule, tend to be cheaper than the iPhone. That means that not only do you get just as much style, functionality and power as an iPhone, but you can get all that at a snip of the cost too.
And because large Android phone releases occur regularly throughout the year, you don’t have to wait all year for the latest release, as with the iPhone.
The main manufacturer that’s got it right when it comes to large smartphones is Samsung; not only can you get the 5-inch Galaxy S4, but the Galaxy Note 3 has a 5.7-inch display, next to the Mega which has a massive 6.3-inch screen.
You don’t need a separate tablet
Another reason why bigger is better in terms of your smartphone is that it eradicates the need for a separate tablet. If you have a 6-inch smartphone (or phablet), for instance, then there’s really no need to fork out for an ever so slightly bigger tablet.
And that leads us back to point number one; there’s nothing a tablet can do that a big phone can’t. In fact, with the ability to make calls and access the internet from anywhere, a big smartphone is arguably better!
Large smartphones are powerful
Another benefit of having a big Android phone is that, more often than not, it’s more powerful than a smaller-screened mid-range model.
Compare a Samsung flagship with its miniature counterpart, for example, the Samsung Galaxy S4 has a much mightier quad-core processor compared with the dual-core processor of the Galaxy S4 Mini.
When it comes to the maths, then, a large smartphone just makes sense!
It’s harder to lose a big phone
Last but not least, big phones, to put it simply, are harder to lose!
