Pimp My Phone – The Most Expensive Smartphones We Can’t Afford

Most people would have a budget to stick to when it comes to buying a mobile phone, but what if you didn’t have to worry about that upcoming phone bill, or your uncle’s next birthday present? What if you could afford one of the world’s most expensive phones? We are here to take a look at your selection…

Lamborghini smartphone

$6000/£4000

If you’re a real petrol head but can’t afford the latest model, why not pick up a smartphone made by Lamborghini itself? Announced at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show, the Android phone wowed the crowds with its stitched leather casing (which is real, unlike Samsung’s), and gold plated stainless steel surround.

And unlike many of these  utterly unaffordable phones on the market, the Lamborghini smartphone sports an impressive set of specs- as you might expect from one of the smoothest car manufacturers around! The handset boasts a massive 20 megapixel rear camera with an 8 megapixel front lens in tow, as well as a mighty 2.3GHz processor and 3GB of RAM, making the phone as speedy as one of its matching sports cars.

Fancy it? The new Lamborghini will set you back a measly $6000 (or £400)!

Platinum Samsung Galaxy S4

Approx. £1,626

This 24 carat platinum plated Samsung Galaxy S4 mixes the handset’s phenomenal features with a smooth and slick design.

The platinum surface extends around the entire edge of the phone itself, and sports all of the phone’s original features with the added luxury of the platinum design.

If you feel like a bit of an S4 sheep, you could always try and separate yourself from the crowd with this flashy number.

BlackBerry Porsche Design w/ Full Crystal Emperor

Approx. £3,997

Designed by sports car manufacturer Porsche, the Full Crystal Emperor features 24 karat gold plating on top of a stainless steel body, with luxurious Swarovski Crystals embedded across the outer edges of the handset.

Powered by BlackBerry’s operating system with a 1.2 GHz processor and 8GB of internal memory, the Crystal Emperor not only looks stunning, but works brilliantly as well.

The handset also features a 5 megapixel camera and includes a 16GB Micro SD card-presumably gold plated- included within the price. To top it off, the phone also comes in a luxury finished Cherry oak box- because cardboard just wouldn’t be good enough.

So if you can’t quite afford a gold plated, diamond encrusted Porsche, you could always opt for a gold plated, diamond encrusted Porsche phone instead…

Mobiado Grand Touch Aston Martin w/gold and ebony wood

Price by request

aston martin phone
Another car manufacture-inspired design here, the Mobiado Grand Touch Aston Martin is essentially the Google Nexus 5, covered in all sorts of precious metals.

This is the yellow gold and ebony wood design, and features 139 carats of sapphire crystal, inset cocobolo hardwood and a 24 karat gold plated body.

The back of the phone is built using large sapphire crystal plates, and allows the battery to be removed simply and easily without risking damage to the sapphire crystal.

The phone might not be quite as strong as the regular Nexus 5, with a 4-inch display, 5 megapixel camera and 512MB of RAM, but if you fancy yourself as a bit of a James Bond this could well be the phone for you.

Unfortunately though, this doesn’t offer any of them cool hidden weapons 007 might find in his phone…

Ulysse Nardin’s The Chairman

£30,500 approx.

ulysse nardin chairman

The most expensive Android smartphone ever; The Chairman was designed by Ulysse Nardin, the high-end watch manufacturer and features a touch screen and physical keypad.

Many of the phone’s buttons are designed to look like they should be on a watch, but the phone also features a winding button which actually creates energy for the phone to use, solving all of your battery-related issues. In fact you can see it in action on the back of the handset whilst the phone is working, similarly to the inside of a watch.

On the inside it has a 32GB memory and an 8 megapixel camera, along with built in speakers. So not only does it look great it should perform fairly well to boot.

So if you happen to own a fancy watch already, you could always complete the set with this chronologically inspired smartphone.

iPhone 5 Black Diamond by Stuart Hughes

£10,000,000

iphone 5 black diamond by stuart hughes
The most expensive mobile phone on the planet at this point in time, designed by English born Paul Hughes, the iPhone 5 Black Diamond’s case is made of 24 karat gold, whilst the home button is packed with 26 carat black diamond.

The phone boasts over 600 white flawless diamonds, placed on the sides and main logo on the back side of the handset.

It took Hughes nine weeks to make the device, which is one of the many extravagant designs he has created including BlackBerrys, iPads and iPhones from previous generations.

The phone was reportedly bought by a Chinese businessman who clearly has a near infinite amount of money.

It’s unknown which specs the businessman went for, but it’s unlikely that he would cheap out on the 16Gb or 32GB options given he spent £10m on the phone itself.

So if you happen to have a spare £10m lying around and want to jump on the iPhone hype then you could well be the second person to purchase the world’s most expensive phone.

Alternatively, we can think of an affordable gold iPhone that won’t break the bank.
