Low Price, good times! Nokia Lumia 635 vs Huawei G6
With all the talk surrounding the likes of the iPhone 5s, the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the HTC One+, it’s easy to forget that it isn’t just these super-expensive flagship handsets pushing the boundaries on the smartphone market.
In fact, there are rafts of budget smartphones taking to the high street stores and online retailers, and there are two on the way which could be real show-stoppers.
Both the Huawei G6 and Nokia Lumia 635 are targeting a budget price audience, but which one will win the battle of the budget handsets?
Nokia Lumia 635 vs Huawei G6: Specs
Both the Huawei and Nokia will sport some interesting specs for budget handsets to say the least. To start us off, both devices will have a larger RAM, at 1GB, than the former flagship iPhone 4s, immediately putting both of them on top of the low-end smartphone pile so to speak.
The Huawei G6 focuses on offering a great smartphone snapper, with a rumoured 8 megapixel back camera and a 5 megapixel selfie shooter stuck on the front of the phone.
The Lumia, on the other hand, whilst offering a similar 8 megapixel camera on the back, is rumoured to only sport a 1.3mp snapper on the front. This might not be of paramount importance to some users, but for Skypers or those addicted to selfies, this could really be a deal breaker.
One area the Lumia is aiming to come out on top is with its speed and power under the hood. The Nokia will allegedly make a home for a Snapdragon 400 processor and a stunning 720p Clear Black display, whilst the Huawei will pack a 1.3GHz processor and a 540×900 display.
Both handsets are rumoured to offer an expandable internal memory, with 8GB standard storage expected from the duo of smartphones.
So whilst the Lumia 635 focuses purely on speed and performance, Huawei is aiming to show off with its impressive camera to bring in some extra attention.

Android vs Windows Phone
Behind all the hardware, we have a pretty interesting tussle between the Nokia Lumia 635 and the Huawei Ascend G6, with both handsets offering different operating systems and completely different interfaces.
Taking centre stage for the Huawei is Android 4.2 JellyBean, operating under the latest Emotion 2.0 user interface which will mask the Android system nicely. Rather than opting for the usual Android icons, the G6 will sport a range of quirky and colourful app icons, backgrounds and widgets, making it stand apart from your ordinary Android smartphone.
However, the Nokia Lumia 635 is working on a par with all the other Lumia handsets of late, using the latest version of Windows Phone’s system, 8.1.
On the other hand, the Nokia Lumia 635’s use of WP8 adds a touch of colour to the device, and its dynamic live tiles make the handset standout from the usual sea of Android smartphones. Although Microsoft has come under fire for not offering as many apps as Android, the Lumia 635 will feature all of the most popular apps as any other smartphone, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Nokia Lumia 635 vs Huawei G6: Design
One thing that’s easy to say when comparing these two upcoming handsets is that they better than your usual budget smartphone.
The G6 is aiming for a precise and clean appearance, and with its ultra-thin and professional dark grey design, it certainly looks like a high-end handset. Although the G6 is being termed the P6 on a budget, it is rumoured that the device will be ever-so-slightly chunkier than the world’s slimmest smartphone.

Compared to the Nokia, the Huawei G6 will also feature a slightly larger screen (4.5-inches versus 4.3-inches) so both devices look like they’ll come within the 5-inch range that’s characteristic of a more expensive device.
The Lumia 635 is expected to don a range of brightly coloured jackets, similarly to most other Lumia devices. As a result, leaked images of the 635 suggests the smartphone will be perfect for the more fashion-conscious owner.
Cost friendly smartphones verdict
Overall, both phones offer surprisingly different features despite having similar price tags.
The Huawei G2 will be perfect for those users who want a budget smartphone, but not necessarily a smartphone that looks like it’s budget. Not only will the device offer a superior camera compared to most other similarly-priced smartphones, but it also features a classy, professional look.
On the other hand, the Nokia Lumia 635 is aiming for a quirkier look with a more vibrant poly-carbonate shell and dynamic user interface.
Both devices offer similar specs under the hood, and more importantly, a similar price tag. Nokia is set to launch the Lumia 635 at a press event at this year’s MWC in Barcelona, though it’s still unclear whether Huawei will sell its G6 in the UK.
