Future Releases: The Phones for 2012
Enter 2012. It’s the end of the world as we know it (According to the Mayans and R.E.M) The prospect of life over the next 12 months may appear all doom and gloom but why let that get you down? We’re just too excited over 2012’s upcoming phone releases to wait for time to stand still. Here are some of our favourite phones for 2012.
Apple iPhone 5

The phone with the greatest anticipation is naturally the iPhone 5. Many Apple fans were disappointed to hear the unveiling of an iPhone 4S back in October 2011. Even though the Apple iPhone 4S offers a much improved camera, longer battery life and packs more power than Godzilla on rocket fuel, consumers cry for something new, not another upgrade. Apple enthusiasts are excited by change and want a fresh looking handset that revolutionises the smartphone industry once again. It’s a dead cert the iPhone 5 will be released this year. Watch this space for an upcoming feature article all about the iPhone 5. Could this be the phone of 2012?
** Expected release October**
Windows Phone Expansion
Nokia Lumia 900, Nokia Ace, Samsung Mandel, HTC Radiant
The real breakthrough news for Windows Phones (see our ‘Windows OS set to impress’) however is collaboration with South Korean giants Samsung. Codenamed Mandel, with a 4.3” screen, this expected summer release could be huge. With additional Windows Phone releases such as the HTC Radiant and Nokia Ace, this could be the year Windows Phone has been waiting for. There’s even a rumoured upgradable improvement of Mango OS, named Windows Phone Tango. Will Tango dance to your attention or just fizz away to a flatness of disappointment?
Samsung Galaxy S3
December 2011 saw the Samsung Galaxy S2 outsell the iPhone 4S to be crowned as top selling smartphone over the festive period. It would be foolish to omit the next generation release from our phones for 2012 hot list. With pre-order Samsung Galaxy S3 deals now available, the prestigious handset has a 4.8 inch Super AMOLED HD screen, 1.4 GHz quad-core processor and an 8 megapixel intelligent camera. The Samsung Galaxy S3 even boasts improved voice recognition software and can track eye movements to keep the screen active whilst you read content. Amazing Tech.
UK Release 30th May 2012
Panasonic Smartphone
2012 is also the year Panasonic return to European and UK shores with a smartphone. This is great news for camera fanatics, as the Panasonic Lumix series offers a range of prestigious lenses and technology we would hope to see within a Panasonic camera phone. All we know so far is an Android based device with a slim 4.3 inch display, that offers waterproof and dustproof protection. The device is also likely to have in built NFC technology so you can use your smartphone for payments and faster transfers. A Panasonic smartphone release will surely be the killer camera phone of 2012.
Expected Release March 2012
