Guide to the Samsung Galaxy series
You may be forgiven for thinking you’d walked into a sci-fi convention as we start to discuss our favourite Androids in the Galaxy, but don’t worry, we are still on the topic of mobile phones. With the Samsung Galaxy series of handsets provided by Samsung, however, E.T. wouldn’t just be phoning home, he’d also be texting, Skyping, and updating his intergalactic Twitter feed.
While Apple’s iPhone may provide one of the most desirable handsets available, they don’t have a great deal of choice on offer, focusing solely on high-end products.The Samsung Galaxy series, however, continues to expand like, well, the galaxy, meaning Samsung’s range of handsets is light-years ahead of the competition in terms of variety and diversity, catering for a wider spectrum of needs.
Galaxy S

You may think the Galaxy S is an outdated member of the Samsung Galaxy series due to the arrival of the S2 (the fastest selling Samsung ever), but this is still a decent phone in its own right, and a more affordable alternative if you want a sizable smartphone with a lighter pricetag. The memory and processor may be slightly behind the competition, but for calls, apps, and social media, it’s a reliable phone at a reasonable price.
Galaxy S2

The flagship of the Samsung Galaxy series, and one of the most popular smartphones on the market, the S2 is the handset that must really keep Apple awake at night. It has a superb 4.3 inch screen, a powerful 1.2Ghzduel-core processor, and runs the latest version of Android. All this, and it’s only 9mm thin. The main competitor to the iPhone, this was one of our favorite handsets of 2011, and will remain to be, we suspect, until the release of the Samsung Galaxy S3 later this year.

Galaxy Nexus

Similar to the S2 in terms of power, and with a slightly larger screen,the unique selling point of the Nexus is its gently curving screen, designed to gently hug your face as you chat away, making this handset both a powerful and friendly addition to the Samsung Galaxy series.

Galaxy Note

Screen Size: 5.3 inch
Is it a mobile? Is it a tablet? Who can tell? With a massive 5.3 inch screen the Note straddles the handset/tablet boundary, and offers a phone, an mp3 player, an ebook reader, and a screen big enough to tackle most tablet functions. It also comes with a stylus pen for ease and accuracy of use. The only thing this multitasking wonderphone can’t do is hoover up and cook your Sunday dinner, but we hear the Samsung Galaxy series are working on it.
