7 reasons you should buy the Sony Xperia M3
With MWC having come and gone, Sony has given us two amazing new smartphones. But with the Sony Xperia Z3+ flagship having taken up all of the limelight, we’re keen to tell you exactly why you should buy the Z3+’s smaller cousin.
A mid-range smartphone taking over where the Xperia M2 left off, the Sony Xperia M3 will certainly blow your socks off when it comes to style, performance and above all, price. Want to know more? Our Sony Xperia M3 review will tell all…
**Update: **Although rumoured to be named the Sony Xperia M3, Sony seems to have trolled us all and confusingly jumped from the Xperia M2 to the Xperia M4 Aqua. Specs below are all correct for the Xperia M4 Aqua.
It looks great!
As always with Sony mobile phones, the Xperia M3 looks like a top class piece of kit despite its less than flashy price tag. With the Sony Xperia M2 sporting a tempered glass design just like the Xperia Z range of smartphones, the Xperia M3 boasts the same premium looking style.

Although the M2 might have only been available in three colours- black, white and purple- with the E3 and Z3 compact having been launched in a whole range of shiny shades, the Sony Xperia M3 has added a splash of colour into our lives this year, providing white, black and pink styles.
Improved front-facing camera
Let’s face it, everyone loves a selfie. And Sony couldn’t agree more, which is exactly why the Xperia M3 has packed in an improved 5 megapixel front facing camera. This is a huge upgrade from its predecessor, which only boasted a VGA front camera as opposed to a lens with megapixels. So if you’re a selfie-holic, or love using skype to video call your mates, then the new Sony Xperia M3 couldn’t be a better phone to do it on.

13MP camera
And if you care about the main camera on your smartphone too, the latest Sony smartphone isn’t going to let you down either. The M2 features an already impressive 8 megapixel camera lens, but Sony has done one better with the M3, bumping the megapixel count up to a whopping 13!

This means that not only will you be able to capture the sharpest pics from your mid-range mobile, but you’ll be getting more megapixels at half the cost compared to most top of the range smartphones on the market!

Octa-core processor
Whether you’re hot on smartphone specs or not, it’s always great to hear that Sony has given the Xperia M3 an upgraded boost of power under the hood. Whilst the Sony Xperia M2 might only- we say only!- have a quad-core 1.2GHz processor, the Xperia M3 is said to boast a whopping octa-core processor!
And when you consider that the previous flagship Xperia Z3 features a 2.5GHz processor, the mid-range M3 is a real powerhouse!
Waterproof Security
As you might have figured, the newly named M3 isn’t fussed about getting in a drip, with the same old IP68 protection coming into play on the handset to ensure that an odd drop into the bathtub or sink won’t leave it with any lasting problems.
You’ll have to make sure you keep all of the ports covered by the built-in flaps if you are to test it, but in practice it’s looked perfectly fine swimming with the fishes!
Sony camera apps
But don’t worry if you’re not a serial spec lover – Sony is planning to include plenty of other features on the Xperia M3 to make it a winner in everyone’s eyes.

As with most other Sony phones, the M3 is cramming in the same array of camera apps as the latest Xperia Z3+ and E4, including Sound Photo, AR Fun (which lets you put animations over your pics!), multi-camera (to use both the front and back cameras at once), and Timeshift Video mode. So if your 13 megapixel camera lens wasn’t enough, the Sony Xperia M3 camera features definitely will be!
Affordable price tag!
And last but not least is the Sony Xperia M3 price. With the handset avoiding the traditional flagship pricing range, you can grab the M3 for much less than the Z3+, whilst also getting a healthy amount of quality.
