The storage revolution - Apple iCloud
In 2008 Apple rocked the smartphone world with the introduction of its App Store and downloadable applications for the iPhone, in 2011 we will be introduced to the Apple iCloud which looks set to be the next smartphone revolution. Come with us as we take you through what we think will be the ultimate feature of Apple’s iOS 5 released later this year.
iCloud from Apple will enable you to store, manage and share all of your apps, music, photos and much more between your Apple devices. It offers a simple to use, efficient and intelligent hard drive that is continually updated and always accessible from your iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, Mac or PC. Although iCloud will be part of Apple’s iOS5 release, there are certain features that will Beta tested in the USA first. So without further ado, lets take a closer look at how iCloud plans to revolutionise the way we use our Apple device.

New purchases available automatically everywhere. Download any new music you buy on iTunes over 3G or Wi-Fi and find it waiting for you on your other Apple devices. You can also view any previously purchased items on iTunes and tap to download them onto your iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, Mac or PC. How about songs ripped from CD or purchased elsewhere to iTunes? iCloud will scan for your music and with iTunes Match will find your tracks and automatically add them to your iCloud library so you can access them on any of your Apple devices.
Apple iCloud and your photo collection
As well as your music being available on the move on all devices, your photos may also be stored and accessed through the iCloud. Up to 1,000 of your most photos can be accessed through the iCloud on your iPad, iPod or iPhone, you can save your best shots and your Mac or PC is the hub that saves all the pictures you have ever taken.
Documents and the Apple iCloud
With applications available for creating reports, presentations and so much more, iCloud becomes the perfect combination. You can access your latest documents and edits on whatever Apple device you are using at the time. This means that the office no longer has to be based around your PC or Mac but can be totally portable with your iPad or iPhone.

Apps, ebooks and the perfect back up with Apple iCloud
Apps have become our favourite feature on our smartphones and with Apple iCloud, it is now possible to access your purchase history from the App store on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. Exactly the same applies for any of your iBook purchases too, say hello to a completely shared App library!
But what about keeping all my music, photos, apps and other files and data safe? iCloud performs a daily automatic back up and uploads anything that has changed, it’s quick and simple. If you ever need to set up a new Apple device or perform a restore, you simply enter your Apple ID and password details and all your data and content will be retrieved. Now that is what I call the perfect backup solution.
Apple iCloud – Keeping everything organized
What if you could access all of your emails, contacts and calendars from all of your Apple devices? Well, you guessed it, with iCloud you can. Effortlessly switch from Mac (or PC) to iPhone to iPad, with no interruption to your business and communications. Of course, just like everything else we have covered, any changes or edits updates will be pushed through to iCloud and update across all devices.
Our final words on iCloud
iCloud from Apple is a complete rethink and redesign on the way we store, transfer and manage all the files and data that are important to us. It could well be a game changer, especially for the tablet and smartphone arena, with the iPhone and iPad becoming perfectly compatible with each other. We hope you are as excited as we are about iOS 5 and iCloud and make sure you visit our community again soon for more news on Apple’s upcoming releases.
