Which BlackBerry is right for you?

BlackBerry’s mobiles are the gold standard when it comes to phones built for business. First up, every model comes with a super-useful keyboard packed full of buttons – yeah, remember those? – that’s perfect if you’re one of those people that likes typing fast but doesn’t like the feel of a tiny touchscreen keyboard. Then there’s the operating system and software, each informed by BlackBerry’s focus on enterprise, that make sure you can do what you need to do when you want to.

Of course, BlackBerry phones aren’t just for slick businesspeople. Every model is loaded with cool features and hot components, although if you’re intrigued by the BlackBerry offering, there are a couple of differences amongst the current line-up. Here’s all the info you need.

BlackBerry Classic

If you loved the old BlackBerry design or want to revisit the late noughties, the retro-inspired BlackBerry Classic is for you. There’s the old - a QWERTY keyboard, 3.5-inch screen and trackpad - as well as lots of new stuff too, including a super-fast Snapdragon S4 Plus processor, 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage space, upgradable to 16GB with an SD card. It looks satisfyingly like an old BlackBerry, but it’s supercharged on the inside.

On the outside there’s a lot new stuff too, thanks to the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 screen, solid steel frame and tough-as-nails back plate. The battery is also great, giving you around 350 hours on standby, between 11 and 17 hours of talk time and up to 70 hours of music.

It also features an 8 MP rear-facing camera and 2 MP forward-facing camera for taking sweet selfies and Instagram pics, which is also great for video calls and conferencing.

BlackBerry Priv

The first BlackBerry handset to feature Android OS, the BlackBerry Priv is packed with features and high-spec components. This flagship phone is like a lot of fancy phones at first glance, but there’s also a lot that sets it apart.

The design is the biggie. As well as a high-resolution, 5.4-inch touch display, if you slide the screen up, you get a full QWERTY keyboard for fast typing - the best of both worlds.

Inside, you get a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor, high-performance graphics processor and a huge 3 GB of RAM. Storage isn’t an issue either, thanks to 32 GB of space, expandable up to a whopping 256 GB with a micro-SD card. Whatever apps you love to use, the Priv will take care of it.

Camera-wise, the rear-facing camera is a huge 18 MP f/2.2 snapper that produces beautiful images and 2160p video clips. The front is great too, giving you 2 MP shot and 720p videos – brilliant if you’re partial to a selfie here and there.

A high-spec, super-slick experience, the Priv is an impressive smartphone, with a design that sets it apart from the pack.

BlackBerry KEYone

Another Android-powered offering, the BlackBerry KEYone combines the smartphone appearance and fast components of the Priv with the physical keyboard of the Classic. It’s BlackBerry’s newest phone, and it shows.

Inside, you get an octa-core Snapdragon 625 and a fast graphics process – these two components give the phone all the oomph it needs to bosh through the slickest games and apps. There’s 3GB of RAM too, and 32GB of on-board storage, expandable to 256GB via a micro SD. The battery life is also brilliant, making the KEYone a powerful phone that stands toe-to-toe with the competition.

The camera weight in at a perfectly sharp 12 MP f/2.0 and can take 2160p HDR video, while the rear camera is an 8 MP f/2.2 piece, able to record at 1080p. If you like video calls, this phone is very capable.

The KEYone is a great middle ground between the fancy Priv and the down-to-earth Classic, and has power and looks in spades.
