Google Pixel phones are renowned for offering high-spec tech bundled up inside a cutting-edge smartphone design, and you can now get your hands on a Pixel device for even less thanks to the release of the Google Pixel 3a.

The more budget-friendly version of Google's flagship Pixel 3, hosts plenty of amazing features - including a brilliant camera and a huge battery - loaded onto the 3a. Discover the Pixel 3a's top five features below.

1 - 12.2MP dual-pixel camera

Google’s Pixel devices are renowned for their excellent cameras – and the 3a follows suit. Whilst this phone is highly affordable, its camera wouldn't feel out of place amongst some of the most premium flagships on the market. It's exactly the same as the camera found on the Pixel 3 too, meaning you get a high performing camera for an amazing low price.

The Pixel 3a's 12.2MP dual rear lens and 8MP front-facing camera produce high-quality images day or night, which are helped by features such as Night Sight (ideal for taking photos in the evening), Top Shot, (which snaps a photo before and after you press the shutter so you never miss that all-important moment) and an advanced Portrait Mode that enables you to manually adjust the depth of field for a bokeh effect. You can record videos in 4K too, at 30 fps, using the rear camera.

2 - Full HD+ display

The display on the Pixel 3a is ideal for everyday use and you can expect nothing less than complete clarity and fantastic colour accuracy when using it. The 5.6-inch Full HD+ OLED screen has an impressive 2,220 x 1,080 resolution and an 18:5:9 aspect ratio that's ideal for high definition streaming, gaming or for casual social media scrolling.

You'll also find some great design features on the Pixel 3a, like Active Edge. Squeezing the edge of the phone will trigger Google Assistant in an instant, so you can ask the intelligent assistant whatever you please and receive answers in seconds.

3 - 3,000 mAh battery

The Pixel 3a uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 processor, which is more than equipped to handle emails, social media browsing, photo editing and more, all while supporting the 3a's superb cameras. There's 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage under the 3a's hood as well, for an all-round seamless performance.

The device is powered by its 3,000mAh battery that'll comfortably see you through the day. In fact, Google notes that when users activate Pixel’s energy-saving Adaptive Battery feature, one full charge will deliver up to 30 hours of use.

The Pixel 3a uses Fast Charging as standard too, and Google boasts that this device will provide up to 7 hours of use from just 15 minutes on charge.

4 - Android Pie

Another aspect the Pixels are known for is their pure Android operating system and the 3a is no exception. You can expect a clean Android 9 experience when you take this device out the box – it isn’t loaded with manufacturer bloatware and you'll be one of the first to receive updates for three years.

Android Pie is packed full of features aimed to make your smartphone experience easier and more intelligent, such as its aforementioned adaptive battery and adaptive brightness, along with gesture navigation and Google Assistant.

The 3a certainly provides a user focussed experience that’s clean, simple and designed to make life easier for you.

5 - Iconic Pixel design

The 3a looks almost identical to the Pixel 3, featuring the same rounded edges, two-toned body and colourful power button. It follows the layout that’s uniform to most smartphones – locking button and volume rocker on the sides, charging port at the bottom and a fingerprint scanner on the back.

However, you’ll also find something on the bottom of this device that’s not so uniform anymore, and that’s a standard 3.5mm headphone jack – allowing you a little more versatility when it comes to listening to music.

The device is light and comfortable in the hand too, weighing just 147g with measurements of 151.3 x 70.1 x 8.2mm.
